Simplicity
is the Answer!
|

|
If it's easy... you will probably do it!
"I used Project Manager on my last project.
At the end of the job we had 650 RFIs - of which
230 created new work. We identified the impact of
each change and negotiated settlements before small
changes became big problems.
Back charges have always been difficult for me because
of the time to make the reports and the documentation
package. However, because of the forms and automated
letter, it was easy. I processed over 100 BCNs and
collected more than twice my salary! At the end
of the project, we had no significant claims."

Frequently Asked Questions
|
What
is Project Manager? Project Manager is project
management software that replaces all of the old
spreadsheets and stand alone reports used to control
new work and manage changes with a modern database
fed by a five specific use forms. Project Manager
is a web based tool - just log on to the internet
and start using the system - nothing is put on your
computer. All data is entered and stored on-line.
The five special use forms input and track requests
for information (RFIs), define project variances
in scope, cost, or schedule (VN), assign new work
to contractors (WA), recover supplier costs (BCN),
and impacts associated with design evolution (NCR).
What's the main benefit of this software? Project Manager becomes the heart of the management process. It enhances communication between team members, and expedites responses to issues - thus saving time, money and valuable resources.
How does it work?
When a problem arises, a contractor will submit
a request for information (RFI) to the manager.
The manager posts the answer on the RFI and email
notifications are sent to all team members. If the
question causes a scope, cost, or schedule change,
a variance exists. Depending upon the change, the
manager can document scope growth with a VN form,
try to recover supplier problem costs with a BCN
form, or make an assignment of new work to a contractor
with an WA form. All reports are automatically updated
to reflect the changes and resolutions.
How does Project Manager differ from other project management software? Project Manager differs from its competition in its:
Ease of use - simpler than spreadsheets and custom reports
Focus on documenting and reducing contract costs
Cost - less expensive than spreadsheets and stand alone reports
Minimal computer skills - fill in blank forms - many pull down menus
Hard copy forms and reports assist in meetings and communications
Reports that quickly identify issues
How
easy is it to learn? Project Manager was created
to be very simple and intuitive to use. It has
a detailed manual and an on-line tutorial that
can be viewed in about 15 minutes.
Realistically, a computer capable person should
be functional in under 1 hour.
How much does Project Manager cost? Project
Manager is available on a subscription basis for
$59 per month. Monthly charges include unlimited
use, licensing, maintenance, and internet hosting.
How much can Project Manager save me?
If you spend more than 1 hour per month keeping
track of RFI's, work authorizations, back charges,
or contract changes, you are spending more than
Project Manager costs. Realistically, use of Project
Manager can save hundrerds of thousands of dollars
on a multi-million dollar project.
On a recent project, Project Manager recovered over twice the manager's salary through back charges alone.
What kind of projects does Project Manager handle? Project Manager accommodates all types of projects from
all types of industries. Don't let size fool you, problems on small Projects can be just as serious as problems on large projects. Project Manager handles them all!
If all I want is to track RFIs, do I need to track all of the other items? No! You can track RFIs alone. However, after a few hours
of work, you will realize how simple it is to use the other areas. If you only track RFIs, how would you determine their cost?
When your boss asks why the contract went up 25%, you need a
solid answer - Project Manager can not only provide that answer, but keep him in
the loop every step of the way.
